Website Design With

A Purpose

Website redesigned to Improve Efficiency & Productivity

Importers of New Zealand’s largest range of welding wires, Welding Engineers supply consumables and machines to the country’s major infrastructure developers and steel fabricators. And they have the expertise to back it up.

More than merely a supplier, the team at WENZL is a solutions-first outfit that aims to partner with their customers for a better outcome. Their goal is to improve efficiency and productivity, giving their customers a competitive advantage. The success of their customers galvanises WENZL, and in this philosophy, their company is aligned with ours. We, too, like to ride shotgun with our clients as their digital marketing partner. We are motivated by seeing our customers successfully engage with their target audience and grow their business.

Client Onboarding

Every company has

a purpose

When we begin a new web design project, we allocate time to meet with your key people and get to know your business. In order to better serve you, we want to understand your purpose. We’re not talking about the bottom line. We are keen to know what drives you and what makes your business special.

Armed with a strong insight into your operation, this allows our web designers to optimise what we produce for our clients.

An Inaccurate Portrayal

What does your

website say?

The old Welding Engineers website design presented users with an online product catalogue detailing the company’s vast array of welding products. But for WENZL, their old website was selling them short.

Although WENZL is perfectly happy to assist smaller fabrication companies and home handymen, they are primarily not a welding retailer geared towards walk-in customers. Yet their old website failed to pitch the company appropriately as the solution-oriented welding specialist that is their guiding principle.

Redesigning WENZL – Putting the ‘why’ before the ‘what’

Couched within a contemporary website design is an online introduction to what WENZL stands for. They now have a valuable resource that aids their expert sales team in telling the Welding Engineers story.

Our web design team worked closely with Welding Engineers to completely rethink what the new website design should say about their business. Together, we curated a selection of the most important products and brands that WENZL represents and disregarded those that didn’t match their ideal target customer. While the products are important, layered above this product range is the ‘why’, the purpose behind the items themselves. Here’s how we achieved this transformation…

On-Location Photography – Show, don’t tell

Welding fumes are an emerging health and safety concern in the industry. WENZL offers a fantastic yet misunderstood on-torch extraction system designed to combat the harmful fumes that welders are faced with. The original on torch extraction systems, now decades old, are what many welders are familiar with. Overly cumbersome, the units never gained traction in the market. More recently, Binzel – a premium welding brand – has solved those early problems with their latest on torch extraction system. The task now for WENZL is to break through the barrier of the industry’s long-held beliefs about the on torch extraction concept.

It takes many words to explain all of that. We’ve painted that picture with just two photographs. Displayed side by side, the before and after photos perfectly illustrate the effectiveness of the Binzel welding torch in action.

Video demonstration – Capturing the moment in motion

Hart Design has also produced a short video that demonstrates Binzel’s on torch extraction capabilities. Viewers can see the contrast when welding without the extraction system operating, then watch as the unit is switched on and the fumes disappear. Welders will also appreciate how the modern fume extraction torch is no longer an obstruction when welding.

Content Creation

On the shop floor

A cobot welding system is where a human welder and a robotic welding arm collaborate to produce repetitive welding tasks consistently and to a high standard. There is no better way to tell that story than showcasing the system in action in the real world. Hart Design joined WENZL at their client – Dean Steel’s – Papakura workshop, to record videos, take pictures and write an article that highlights how the fabricators are benefiting from the system.

We’ve blended these digital ingredients to craft an engaging web page that demonstrates cobot welding in action and details the positive impact it has had on Dean Steel. Consequently, the case study is helping WENZL to pitch the concept to others who could benefit from their cobot welding system. WENZL’s prospects can view the system in a familiar context, which helps them to understand how the new technology can improve their productivity, too.

I am very happy with the new website, they took the time to understand our business aims and delivered a great result. We enjoyed the experience and look forward to working with them further.
